THE RADIANCE PROJECT
Story
Photos taken from scenes freeze the moment; they become a static representation that can lead to loss of emotional dynamics. The aim of the Radiance project is to restore this dynamic and to overcome the static state of the image. This awakes its liveliness and can trigger the viewer’s imagination and perception.
The project was born out of experiments, combining photographs and adding external lighting elements to them to recreate the emotional state of the scene.
In the meantime, various progressive stages of development in the artwork of the Radiance project were created. From the early works, light installations that create atmospheric images through changing light effects to artworks that include orchestrated light changes, use specific materials and react to external events.
The latest work in this series is the ‘’Farsighted’’ installation, that allows interaction with the viewer in real time and responds to global events and mood currents.
Contradictions as well as similarities became the essential means to every art piece of the Radiance project. To do this, various techniques and materials, that are the same as those depicted in the images, were used with a unique approach in order to bring the concept to life, hence being reactive, changeable and real. It can amplify elements that can easily be overlooked otherwise.
