Thumbs-up and a friendly smile from a stranger. The beginning of another travel-story: I’m in Barcelona again, working for a Spanish travel guide—and it’s been five months. I’m here on holiday with my American husband. It’s been so exciting! We had a fantastic day in Barcelona. The weather is nice, the restaurants are great, and the best part is we spent the whole day with some of the best people! My husband just kept pointing out places in this guide that he didn’t even know existed, and we’re still going to go back!
On the advice of another guidebook, I headed straight out of my house to find a very nice Barcelona hotel. I took a bus to get there and discovered that everyone had been instructed not to go straight to the hotel unless absolutely needed. Instead, the guidebook said, people should go into one of the hotels first and see if they can get a room there. So I started to look. I didn’t really know what to expect.
